After a great Business Class experience on Emirates, we arrived to the welcome of Derna and Rod in the arrival lounge of Christchurch International Airport. Richie could tell that they were there because he heard his Dad cough as we walked through the sliding doors of Customs.
For the last 2-3 weeks they have been holidaying here with Derna’s older sister Marie (84yrs old!), her husband Alex (91yrs old!!!) and their son Bevan. They have had a great time and it was great to have the opportunity to catch up with them.
We enjoyed an awesome dinner with Rod and Derna in the restaurant at our hotel, Novotel Cathedral Square. Then “walked it off” down to Strawberry Fare, the best recommendation we have had so far in NZ.
According to our waiter at the Novotel, Strawberry Fare is known as the best place in all of Christchurch to have coffee and dessert. It is definitely worth a visit. It was a great way to finish off celebrating our 1st Wedding Anniversary with our family.
P.S. Check out their website – BUT, it really doesn’t do the restaurant justice. It is good for a drool over the menu though.
