‘brews 13

I read this passage in ‘brews this morning while drinking my brew. I really liked it for these reasons:

  • Be content with what you have – we are convicted of this every time we go on a mission trip or volunteer. We are blessed with what we have, but why do we always try to do more, get more, buy more, have more etc…
  • “Some people have entertained angels without knowing it” – this is awesome. Heavens Agents interacting with us earthly beings!
  • Remember your leaders – hmmm fitting for Election 2010 week, even if the text refers to religious leaders!

and drum roll please…

  • THE ULTIMATE…  “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you”… “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”. That means He is the same as He was when He was hanging out with His friends Peter, James and John. He is the same when He met the Samaritan Woman at the well. He is the same as He was when He allowed Mary Magdalene to anoint him.

How good is that promise?

Hebrews 13 – NIV

Concluding Exhortations

 1Keep on loving each other as brothers. 2Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. 3Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.

 4Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. 5Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
   “Never will I leave you;
      never will I forsake you.”[a] 6So we say with confidence,
   “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
      What can man do to me?”[b]

 7Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. 8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
